How to Create a User Group
Overview
To create a User Group, navigate to:
Team Management → User Groups
The User Groups page displays existing groups and provides an option to create a new group. Creating a group allows an administrator to gather users with similar access needs together, so permissions and channel access can be managed for the whole group at once instead of user by user.

Group ReadyStep 1: Open User Groups
Navigate to the User Groups section under Team Management.
You will see the existing user groups already set up in the system. For example:
- HR Team
- Finance Team
- Sales Team
- Support Team
This gives administrators a quick view of how groups are currently organized before creating a new one.
Step 2: Click "Create User Group"
Select the Create User Group option.
A group creation form will be displayed, allowing the administrator to enter the details required to set up the new group.
Step 3: Enter the Group Name
Provide a meaningful name for the group. The name should clearly identify the users or department represented by the group, so its purpose is obvious to anyone managing access later.
Good Examples
- HR Team
- Finance Team
- Sales Team
- IT Support
- Product Support
- Management Team
A clear, consistent naming convention makes it easier to manage groups as the organization grows.
Step 4: Add a Group Description
Provide a short explanation of the group's purpose. This helps other administrators quickly understand what the group is for and who should be added to it, without needing to guess from the name alone.
Step 5: Add Users to the Group
From the dropdown list, choose the users who should belong to this group.
Only add users who genuinely need the access this group will provide. Keeping group membership accurate ensures that:
- Users only receive access relevant to their role
- Access can be reviewed and audited easily
- No user ends up with unintended permissions through group membership
Step 6: Save the User Group
After entering all required information — name, description, and users — click Save or Create.
If the information is valid, RAGFish creates the user group. It should then appear in the User Groups list, ready to be mapped to the required channels or resources.
